[ winter is always the hardest season for naegi. being as poor and strapped for money as they are, he and daisuke always brave through winter without turning on the heating for their apartment. instead, they choose to just bundle up in as many layers as possible and to just deal with the fact that they need to wear mittens in their own home. it's ridiculous but every single penny they saved from not using their heating helped. of course, some days are just unbearable though so that's why naegi has decided to take refuge in tatsuma's home. ]
Thanks for letting me in, Tatsuma. It's absolutely freezing outside.
[ and at his place. he wants to warm up a bit before he heads back to his igloo ]
[He's more than familiar with Makoto's situation, and it's half the reason his grandmother fusses so much over the other boy.
The other half is simply because that is what she does.
The house is more or less the same as usual, the tantalizing scent of sweet pastries in the air, easily smelled but perhaps not so easily tasted, date depending. There's a few new mugs on the cabinets Makoto may note, and upon closer examination they're a closer match to Tatsuma's style than his grandfather's, etched with designs.]
[ bless tatsuma's grandparents. naegi will miss them dearly when dani kills them and then he loses a nice, warm house to crash at... but in the meanwhile, yes, he will notice the new mugs on the cabinets when he starts roaming! ]
Hey, did you make these?
[ he's tried pottery before with tatsuma but he... wasn't that great at it. he definitely remembers tatuma's style though, it's pretty easy to catch with his ~artistic~ eye ]
Oh-- yeah. [He tilts his head over his shoulder for just a second to peer at them himself.]
Daisuke showed me Etsy.
[And so did Tatsuma enter into the world of selling items online. He'd had little drive to do so before, but at the convention... Or at least, before everything at said convention had gone to hell, it had been fun seeing all the wares those artists had out.
Before he can say much more, the familiar face of Tatsuma's grandmother appears in the doorway. Oh, Makoto! Welcome, welcome - there's pie on the counter, so help yourself. Unless he'd like cookies instead, but he'll have to wait for those, they're still in the oven--
She disappears again to attend to said cookies, but based on past experiences Makoto might want to prepare himself for the usual barrage of questions incoming.]
[ as tatsuma's grandmother appears, naegi instinctively bowing his head at her. he hasn't really been raised with japanese customs, especially since he was raised in recolle, but it has always felt... polite to bow to the elderly. he's probably been doing it to tatsuma's grandmother since they were kids so it's a hard habit to wave off, even years later ]
Oh, thank you. I will.
[ haha overly polite naegi... he always feels a little awkward around tatsuma's grandparents, even though he shouldn't since he's known them for years now. but his attention is grabbed back to tatsuma when he remembers what the other said before his grandma came in talking about cookies and pie ]
Wait, you're selling on Etsy now? You should show me your store!
[He pulls out his phone as he walks, pulling up the store and flipping the screen so Makoto can see. The products are pretty much exclusively pottery, though there's a couple relatively simple oil paintings of various locations around Recollé - the beach and the park in particular.]
[Plus, it'd be nice to have the extra cash. It'll especially come in handy later when terrible things happen - not that he's aware of it at the moment.]
Have you ever thought about having a booth at the cons? Daisuke and I did one back in August and before all the monsters, we were doing really well in sales.
Yeah! As long as you have some really nice designs like the one you have on your site, you'll be fine. I've seen people selling their own original art and lots of things that weren't anime-related during the con.
[ will they have their doujin done by august though... ]
[ he'll grab out his own phone now so he can open up the tumblr app and show off what his blog is like. this is his main art blog so it just has some of his art along with promotional posts of the new prints or charms he's selling. his online persona apparently seems to be a tiny person in a gas mask and hoodie and going by the name of zen. hmmmmm ]
It'd take some time at first, but if you draw enough fandom-related things, you'll get a lot of followers and then it'd become easier to promote whatever you want to sell.
Heheh, some of these are my best sellers actually.
[ he’s a little embarrassed as he says that but he does seem kind of proud. he’s been working hard to make a presence online for himself ]
Fandom is like... a fan base! So if you make things that the fan base of a certain series might like, it’d get more noticed. Stuff like fan art gets attention pretty quickly.
Um, it's not as popular as things like Strike on Giant or the Destiny/Stay Day series but it's recognizable enough? There's definitely still fans around and tumblr makes it easy enough to find other fans of the same series.
Hmm, I'm not too sure. I never sold anything Shiki's Magic related before, but we could take preorders? That'll help us order the right number of doujins and then we can have some extras to put for sale online and in cons.
early~mid dec??

Tatsuma, these are really good! You will definitely get buyers with stuff like this!

[ why are you awful even in your meta text ]

[Though he supposes he could always make some that are more thematically appropriate... Or just, y'know, do more with the doujinshi.]

What about the doujin? Would that work?
no subject
The doujin would definitely work! If we post some sample pictures online like on Twitter and Tumblr, we could generate some interest as well.
no subject
Do you have both?
no subject
Yeah, I have accounts for both sites and I use them pretty frequently. It's a good way to get yourself known as an artist and to promote your stuff.
no subject
Can you show me those too?

[Hmm! He scrolls through the art, smiling a bit when he sees a few pieces in particular.]
I remember those.
[So they were for prints! This is all beginning to click together.]

How popular is Shiki's Magic?

Think it'd sell...?
[He's pretty confident he can paint the youkai, especially. Their ethereal natures lend themselves well to painting in general.]
