[ after the disaster of that chilli eating contest... they can do a chore that's not as intense, which is shovelling snow outside someone's home! this should be easy enough since they're both decently fit and strong so this will be a piece of cake! ]
[ ... also souji summoned mada and gave him two shovels so he could help so ]
If you're cold, take a break and stand by Mada. He'll warm you up.
[He is most definitely thanking his lucky stars that this act of charity has nothing to do with peppers. Let that be a lesson for him not to consume mystery spices.
That said, he stares up at the Persona with open curiosity even as Souji hands it shovels.]
Mada?
[That name isn't one he's familiar with - at least, not that he's remembered so far...
But he should also actually do what they're here for, so he takes his own snow shovel and hops to, well. Shoveling.]
[ souji nods as he hands over two shovels and mada just stands there, holding them like they're weapons he can use to beat people with (aka just standing there intimidatingly with two giant shovels in his hands) ]
Yeah, this one is called Mada. He was actually the first Persona I ever got.
[ he says fondly ]
He caused a lot of trouble in the beginning but he's pretty tamed now.
The "setting people on fire and muting them" kind of trouble.
[ said kind of casually... it's been nearly half a year since the incidents happened and while he does feel bad about it, he was able to make it up to people and at least correct everything. also, he's showing mada how to shovel while speaking so just silently teaching this giant demon how to clear snow without setting everything on fire ]
I didn't have a good handle on controlling him at first so it was difficult directing his attacks or getting him to do what I wanted. It took me nearly two months before I got used to him and after that, it was easier to control any other new Personas I got.
[This is another one of those times, when Souji explains something so casually, Tatsuma figures there's nothing more that needs to be talked about - not, at least, in terms of anything relating to safety.]
He would silence people and they wouldn't be able to talk for a few minutes.
[ souji doesn't mind explaining, especially with tatsuma. personas and their powers aren't exactly super straightforward and easy to understand ]
But hm, it's mostly mental. The first couple of times, I couldn't summon him for longer than a second and getting him to do anything nearly made me pass out, but after I got used to the strain, it became easier to call him out and to instruct him on what to do. It's still draining and if I use any of my Personas for too long, it'd obviously wear me out, but I can switch between any of my Personas and use them freely now.
[ mada is just off to the side, shovelling away and doing a decent job at it but probably because he has four arms and can do twice as much work as a human with two arms ]
Yeah, it should be fine. He's not using any of his spells so it's not as straining to have him out. Plus, we'll finish faster with him and then we can head back to warm up.
[Sounds like a good plan to him. He nods and gets back to shoveling.]
How many do you have?
[-Well, okay, no, he's still curious about all of this. He remembers having powers and he remembers others with abilities too, but none of them could summon as far as he's recalled.]
[Tatsuma shakes his head. Though as Souji lists them off, something occurs to him...]
About Kohryu...
[The name rolls off his tongue with a startling familiarity, one he's never mentioned to Souji yet - simply because at the time he was so preoccupied, it didn't occur to him.]
[Yeah he only barely understands it so this is going to be interesting to explain. When he does, there's a quality to his words that make it clear he's abridging an explanation that someone else gave him.]
Kohryu is born into the world every two thousand years. In some rare instances, there's two vessels born at the same time. The Yin vessel, and the Yang vessel.
[Tatsuma stops shoveling as well, actually leaning lightly on the shovel as he considers his words.]
...The city. I think... It was probably all of Tokyo.
[Not... That he's been there in person himself. But with all of the memories he's regained so far, he can't think of any other place that fits the bill. They were all definitely in Japan, that's for certain, and the sprawling city couldn't exactly be easily missed.]
In my other memories... We were always fighting to try to protect people. But I remember looking out over a ledge, and the whole city was wrecked.
I think so. One of my friends was arguing... Not all of the four gods had been awakened yet, so Kohryu shouldn't have, either.
But if the requirements were different, the Yin vessel might've awakened before I did, and...
[Destroyed Tokyo, apparently. He's still not sure what to make of it, knowing that the Tokyo in this world is fine, and yet-- in some other world, was that still the case? Or did that world even exist any longer to begin with?
There's too many questions and not enough answers, either from Retrospec or his own memories.
He shakes his head lightly.]
"Chi You" and "Dragon Stream..." It all had something to do with that. Especially the Dragon Stream.

[So it definitely takes some energy to maintain. He pauses in his work to look over to it curiously.]
Is it okay to use him for this?

Kohryu is born into the world every two thousand years. In some rare instances, there's two vessels born at the same time. The Yin vessel, and the Yang vessel.
They said... I was the Yang vessel.
no subject
A vessel? Wouldn't that mean you carry Kohryu inside you, rather than being him?
no subject
I think so...
They talked about the four gods, too. Kohryu can't awaken without them. But the requirements for the Yin vessel were... different.
no subject
How different?
no subject
[He thinks back on the memory, trying to piece it together, trying to remember what those voices both familiar and yet still unknown had said.]
Maybe... The other vessel of Kohryu was already awakened...?
[But not him.]
...Everything had been destroyed by then. We needed to do something, but...
[What was left to do, in the face of all that carnage?]
no subject
What do you mean by everything being "destroyed" by then?

...The city. I think... It was probably all of Tokyo.

In my other memories... We were always fighting to try to protect people. But I remember looking out over a ledge, and the whole city was wrecked.

... that's terrible. Was it because of this other vessel, the Yin one?

But if the requirements were different, the Yin vessel might've awakened before I did, and...
