[ This definitely is a difficult topic to talk about and Souji's not too sure how much Tatsuma wants to speak about his parents, so he'll start it off simple and generic. ]
[ Ah, Souji does remember that secret... And after a lengthy pause, he does eventually text Tatsuma back. ]
I had the same experience.
My mother and I moved every year for the past decade so I also wasn't able to make a lot of friends. Shin (if you know him) was the first friend I made in a long time before I finally moved to Recolle and was reunited with my brother.
[ He has never shared this with anyone else (asides from Shin) but he figures that since Tatsuma shared his story then the least that Souji can do is share his. Plus, to have someone else in the exact same position as him and to understand? It's relieving. ]
[Even as much as he accepts his life as it is, moving from place to place, never able to overcome his shyness and befriend anyone for fear that it would be wasted anyway once they packed up to go again?
It was lonely. Isolating.]
But when i moved to recolle i started making friends
[Prompto - he didn't even really have to, but he spotted Tatsuma while doing delivery for his grandparents and reached out.]
[ Maybe it's because he was finally reunited with his brother after ten years or maybe because it was this massive network that forced everyone to interact with each other (as terrible as the app was), but whatever it was, Souji had more friends here than he ever did in his entire life. It's... a bittersweet feeling, to have this many new friends, only because of his answer to Tatsuma's question. ]
If I'm lucky. I applied to Recolle U so I'm hoping that I can stay but if my mother wants to move me again then I'd probably have to leave.
[Yeah... It would figure. The only reason Tatsuma's felt less tenuous in his place here is, admittedly, because he's fairly certain that if his grandparents said something, his parents would relent and allow him to stay.]

[He doesn't remember ever really talking about Souji's parents before...]
no subject
[ Tatsuma is one of the only two that Souji has talked to about his parents so far so it is a privilege... probably ]
no subject
[...Maybe that was a bad topic.]
My parents were strict too but they werent around much
[Kind of made it hard for them to enforce anything.]
no subject
Do they work a lot?
no subject
I think my grandparents got mad at them though cause weve been in recolle for a long time now
Compared to the other places
[He doesn't personally mind talking about his own situation. It is what it is, and he's accepted that.]
no subject
How long have you been in Recolle for?
no subject
We usually stayed in other places for only a year
no subject
[ wow that sure sounds like souji's case as well ]
no subject
Thats why i never had friends
We moved too quickly
[Souji was there to see that secret, if it could really be called that.]

Do you know if youre staying here?
[He hopes so.]

She moves a lot for work.

Hope you get in
Will you stay at the dorms?
no subject
I was planning to but I'm not sure if the college dorms will let us.
Apparently having six cats poses a problem. I have no idea why though.
[ trying to steer the convo to something more lighthearted! ]

But youd still be here
And we can keep being friends
[Can't stop him quite that easily, Souji.]
no subject
Yeah, we'll keep on being friends.
But even if we move away from each, I hope that we could still be friends.

You can text whether youre here or not
[Or call, but spoiler alert, Tatsuma is probably not the most scintillating talker over the phone.]
