I had the same experience.
My mother and I moved every year for the past decade so I also wasn't able to make a lot of friends. Shin (if you know him) was the first friend I made in a long time before I finally moved to Recolle and was reunited with my brother.
[ He has never shared this with anyone else (asides from Shin) but he figures that since Tatsuma shared his story then the least that Souji can do is share his. Plus, to have someone else in the exact same position as him and to understand? It's relieving. ]

If I'm lucky. I applied to Recolle U so I'm hoping that I can stay but if my mother wants to move me again then I'd probably have to leave.
[Yeah... It would figure. The only reason Tatsuma's felt less tenuous in his place here is, admittedly, because he's fairly certain that if his grandparents said something, his parents would relent and allow him to stay.]
