Summary: A young Tatsuma and some other kids play Kagome, Kagome. Tatsuma is the Oni in the center. The instant the song ends, he immediately names the three kids behind him, eyes still closed. The kids all bemoan that it's like he has eyes in the back of his head, and it's boring how he always gets it right. Besides, how is he even doing that, anyway? Creepy!
They all decide to run off instead of continuing to play, leaving behind a confused Tatsuma.
Notes:
Emotionally, he's just very confused. While he could definitely tell where each kid was around him even with his eyes closed, it doesn't occur to him that this is in any way strange because that's just how he perceives the world. He doesn't understand why the others reacted the way they did.
Summary: Tatsuma and his friend Aoi sit in her room at sunset. Aoi expresses that she feels like she's being pushed around by impossibly powerful forces without being able to do a thing about it. In response, Tatsuma removes his gloves, revealing a swirling birthmark along his hands. He explains that as a kid, he hated it because it made him so different, but his father told him it would become an important symbol someday, and to take good care of it. He finally understood when he came to Magami high and met everyone, fighting alongside them against demons - it felt like he finally found his purpose in life. So, even if it was just fate, he was grateful it brought them all together. He encourages her, saying they'd all face fate together.
Notes:
Surprisingly, there aren't any doki feelings here. He's just trying to encourage a friend who's clearly feeling down, even if his own childhood memories are bittersweet.
Summary: Tatsuma and his friend Kyouichi fight against a mass of zombies to reach a giant eyeball monster controlling said zombies with strings. However, when Tatsuma weaves through the zombies to try to reach the demon, it throws the zombified corpse of a high school girl at him, which he catches even though it means getting slammed into some railing. Kyouichi is able to fend off the demon somewhat as Tatsuma respectfully lays the girl's corpse down before moving to follow out of the tunnel they had initially been fighting in. Once he's able to catch up to the demon, he makes short work of it, causing it to explode into flesh and reveal its true form as a spider in a wooden doll. Before Kyouichi can smash the spider, Tatsuma warns him off, and he stops.
Notes:
Emotionally he just feels bad for all of the victims the whole time. He fights back to put a stop to it all, but he doesn't take any joy from it, either. He just wants the living to be safe and the dead to be able to rest peacefully.
Summary: Tatsuma enters a room in an abandoned school building, past a door covered in talismans. Inside is the spirit of an elderly woman. He greets her, and answers various questions she poses to him: is he scared? No. How long has he been able to see spirits? Every so often, since he was little. Was he okay? Yes, because his parents were with him, and now he has many other friends too. She seems pleased to hear it. She floats to him and cups his face, mentioning something about like (possibly in relation to his soul?) as well as telling him to pass on the words "I'm sorry. Thank you." before disappearing, at peace. He seems to be happy she was able to rest.
Notes:
Emotionally very calm, he doesn't feel he's in danger at any time and he's clearly used to communing with the dead.
Summary: It's night. Tatsuma stares out over a wrecked Tokyo as the other survivors cry and try to make sense of what just happened. Two elderly men then proceed to explain the entire endgame plot:
Tatsuma is the vessel of the Golden Dragon, Kohryu, awakened alongside Suzaku, Byakko, Genbu, and Seiryu. He's gifted with the power of the Dragon Stream, the great energy at the center of all creation. However, typically only one vessel of Kohryu is born at a time: the yin or the yang. On this occasion, both were born simultaneously, someone else named Yashiro being the shadow of the golden dragon (yin) and Tatsuma being the yang vessel. Because his parents were both born under unique stars of fate, Tatsuma too was born under the star of fate to be Kohryu's vessel. As such, the only one capable of putting a stop to Yagyuu, a man who intends to destroy everything using Yashiro's power as the yin dragon, would be Tatsuma and the other stars of fate he considers his friends and allies. The battle itself between the two dragons is set to take place at Mt. Fuji.
Notes:
Emotionally he's just kinda??? numb?????? all of Tokyo is wrecked and countless people dead because he interacted with Yashiro which awoke him as the yin dragon, and now it's all on him to fight a guy who wants to destroy the world. He's certainly not backing down, but there's some mixture of shock, grief, and determination in there.
Summary: Tatsuma faces off against a man who clearly has his friend Aoi under some kind of control. The man gives her a knife, and she runs for Tatsuma - only for Tatsuma to put on a strained smile before peacefully waiting for her to run and stab him, which she does. Someone tries to assassinate her, but another of Tatsuma's friends deflects the blade, which Tatsuma's grateful for. Since Aoi is in the middle of stabbing him, he takes the opportunity to apologize for being able to do anything for her when she was suffering. He explains how glad he was to finally have friends and how he wanted to protect everyone, but Aoi was worried she wasn't able to protect the others in turn. He gives her a heartfelt plea - she protected them, even if she didn't realize it, and they wouldn't have made it as far as they had without her. They would protect her too, so please, come back.
It's enough to exorcise the demon possessing her, and she looks up with a teary smile, determined to protect everyone.
