Well, crap. Now that he's got the technique down, his longer legs are giving him the extra strength and air resistance he needs to catch up. Minako huffs and puffs, determined not to give him the chance.
By now she's visibly swinging back and forth on the swing, but her legs are still kind of sore from her run...she might not be able to protect her lead.
It takes a bit of work on his side too, but soon enough, he's matching pace with her. By now, if anyone passes by, they're probably staring at these two strange youths swinging on the swing set like their lives depend on it, but that doesn't matter. What matters is that only one can be the winner.
Can she do it? Can she overcome the exhaustion from her run, rising to the top-?!
Or in other words, she's figured out the secret-- the exact timing of when to keep her ankles together for the pumping motion, and when to keep them straight for the least air resistance.
Except.
"Wait!" She can only manage to say one word for each time they're close enough for him to hear. "We--never--decided--what--"see--who's--faster"--means!"
It's all well and good to try and have a race, but what's the point at which they stop and say 'yes this person is definitely faster'?!

A VERY GOOD QUESTION!!
There's a bit of a pause as he thinks it over, and then again between each word because - yup, they're still swinging.
"The--app--didn't--say!"
He even raised his voice a little. Bravo Tatsuma! Too bad those words aren't too helpful...

"Maybe--we--can--just--call it--a--tie?"
no subject
"Okay."
And he'll immediately drag his feet on the ground, coming to a halt. What an exciting conclusion to their race.

"Excellent race, Tatsuma, you were a worthy opponent."
no subject
"You too. Thanks for racing me.]

A pause.
"The bingo wasn't asking you to win the race, was it?"
no subject
"All I had to do was challenge someone to one."
So... technically speaking, they went above and beyond on the requirements.
no subject
"Whoo! We're totally set then." She tugs her phone out of her pocket to check the time, and then wraps her fingers around the swing chain again.
"Do you have time to swing just for the fun of it?"
no subject
"Do you?"
...He's already pushing on the ground with his feet though. Ready to go if she is!
no subject
"You betcha!"
